According to a recent article published by the Bradenton Herald, household disinfectants commonly used to rid our homes of germs and bacteria are actually propagating sickness. The article cites a report recently released by the National Environmental Health Group, titled “Disinfectant Overkill: How Too Clean May Be Hazardous to Our Health.” According to the report, chemicals in these disinfectants have been linked to chronic illnesses and conditions such as asthma, hormonal imbalance and immunity problems. Products mentioned in the report include ammonia, bleach, Triclosan and Triclocarban. Experts suggest using natural alternative products like vinegar or borax instead and recommend frequently washing your hands with anti-bacterial soap and warm water to avoid potential health hazards.
